Pre-wrapped tool downloaded from Azuon.com asks me to update it. But trying to do so tells me I have to "enable the .NET framework from the Windows Features dialog box."
What is the equivalent of that with Winetricks?
Previous versions updated with no problem until they introduced the need for .NET 4.5. Then I had to remove all traces, and download a new pre-wrapped program. Without updating, it works sometimes, and gets an out of memory exception other times. My Macbook Pro has eight GB RAM and almost 600 GB of empty disk (for potential swap).
The release notes for the update do not mention a memory problem, but they do mention another fix.

UpdateLayeredWindow on MacOS
Does anybody know if UpdateLayeredWindow is supposed to work on Wineskin? I've seen Wine release notes that imply it works, but my app's transparent window doesn't work, nor does this example app:
https://www.codeproject.com/articles/1036/per-pixel-alpha-blend
I'm happy to work around stuff if there are bugs, or is it simply not supported?
Thanks,
Chris

How do you change a wrapper to 64bit Windows?
I’m trying to run Steam on a Windows 10 64bit OS, but when I use the Winetrick to switch to Windows 10, the system stays at 32bit. Is there a way to change it to Windows 10 64bit? (Wineskin Winery)

"Serious problem"
I am trying to install a game and it has been working on my other laptops. Somehow when I try to launch the game after I installed on this laptop, it keeps telling me that there is a "serious problem" with the wine and I couldn't figure out why. I did press "cancel" the first time when I was asked whether I want to install certain files when I was creating the first wrapper. Later on, I was not asked whether I want to install those files when I create new wrappers. I don't know whether that is the problem. Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!

Wrapped Steam wont launch 64-bit game even though I have a 64-bit computer?
I did some looking around, and after some lengthy consideration, I bought Skyrim SE here on steam when it was 50% off. I know the game runs only on Windows and in 64-bit. So I used Wineskin Winery to wrap the latest version of Steam client for Windows in order to port it for Mac use. The client works wonderfully, aside from some texture and navigation issues... Ive used WinSteam to launch Terraria and Amnesia: The Dark Descent in the past, so I dont know why WinSteam isnt capable of launching Skyrim.
It keeps saying that I need 64-bit Windows (which is Windows 7+), yet that shouldnt matter since my iMac runs a Core i7 and is thus using 64-bit, and the client runs off the port. So the whole "windows" issue shouldnt be happening. Unless there is something the error message is leaving out, Im lost and unsure what to do.
I dont have the money to buy a Windows PC (I know right), so I wont be playing Skyrim on a native windows for quit a while. But that shouldnt stop me from playing the game here on Mac first. I did go out of my way to pay for the game anyway. And like I said, the client port is stable, soo....

How to open Wineskin High Sierra - tip 2
I had tried all the tips here on the forum but unfortunately nothing worked.
Until I push all the buttons in the menu and have tried all settings and suddenly the program starts again.
What have I done:
Open wineskin (the program does not start automatically)
Click on WINDOW and then on ZOOM
Close Wineskin (right mouse button STOP)
Wait a while until it is closed properly
Then open Wineskin again
Please wait and the program starts again automaticly
Maybe the wrong way but I like to share my enthusiasm with other wineskin users who have problems with some programs after the High Sierra update.

PCem v13 - Mouse Issues
Hi,
I have created a wrapper for PCem v13 using the 2.22 engine (with the Mac Driver screen option). I am trying to get the (guest) mouse to work properly, but it is slow and behaves erratically. I didn't get this problem in v12. The mouse emulated is the PS/2 2-button mouse.
I have posted a video on YouTube showing what happens in both v12 and v13, and about 4:12, I show what happens when X11 is used. The mouse seems to behave normally, but it jumps to a random position on screen. Also, when I access certain elements on the Windows '95 desktop, the host mouse cursor appears even if I click inside the PCem window to hide it.

I am using OS X 10.8 as my host.

Nitro Family
Trying to get Nitro Family up and working. Got a copy cheap from somwhere...
Made a wrapper with Wineskin winery, which says version of the wrapper is 2.6.2
and version of Wine is 2.2.1 which I believe is the latest one. I have it set up as Windows XP, ran Winetricks, said "Give Wine a 2 gig video card" and Direct X 9.0c is installed, and Auto Detect graphics cards is turned off as well (if that helps, or not??) and....nothing...gets to white screen,** and I have to force quit wineskin and everything else (by holding down the power button) and restarting. It should work, and I remember gettting it working (once) with Crossover, but that was a long long time ago. The specs for the game don't look too bad, Pentium 4, 32 meg video card and Windows XP, with 256 megs of ram recommended, but it'll run with 128 megs of ram. Hmmm....the read me does mention something about Transform and Lighting (T&L) and that the card must support it....Hmmmm??? i thought wineskin's video cards supported it automatically...maybe I was wrong...it's not like I'm missing a great game here, yeah i know, it's crap, but it's fun crap...
and, well, it should work (me thinks) but...nope.... I'm stumped for now. I got Falllout New Vegas working fine before, and a few other games working fine as well, and I'm guessing Fallout NV has slightly steeper requirements than this thing, probably lasts longer too, and more enjoyable...oh well, whatever floats my boat, right.....
thanks for any ideas
John B
** tried it in windowed mode at 800x600, no good, tried it fullscreen, still no good, made sure that direct X 9 was installed (via winetricks), nope, didn't do squat. So, I'm out of ideas

Can't get Civ IV to work
I have a 2017 Macbook Pro and just downloaded Civ IV with all the DLC from GOG. I don't have hard drive space available to use Boot Camp, so Wineskin is my best option.
There are two files to download from GOG: setup.exe (43 MB) and setup.bin (2.9 GB).
Here's what I've tried.
******************************************
First Approach:
(1) Place both files downloaded from GOG into a new folder called "Civilization IV"
(2) Open Wineskin
(3) Create New Blank Wrapper, name it Civ_4
(4) Once the new wrapper is complete, open in finder.
(5) Place the Civilization IV folder containing the two GOG files into drive_c ---(looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/0BBZ8)
Note: I'm not sure how the GOG Games folder even appeared (think it popped up after doing this step). Here's how it looks: https://imgur.com/a/6NFij
(6) Open the wrapper, click Advanced, and set the .exe as the setup_civilization.exe (seen in first picture above).
(7) Open the wrapper again, and get this: https://imgur.com/a/Bh9O7
(8) Install and wait.
(9) Near the end of the install, I get a runtime error, but the game launches anyway. End up with the opening cinematic followed by the title screen.
(10) Try clicking the tutorial, and the game crashes.
(11) Try launching the game, but it puts me back at step 7.
********************************************
Second Approach
(A) Steps 1-4
(B) Open the wrapper, Install Windows Software, use the setup.exe
(C) Get this screen again: https://imgur.com/a/Bh9O7
(D) Installation finishes. Get prompted to choose my main installation executable.
(E) Only option available from the dropdown list is a beyondthesword.exe, so I use it. (None of the base game data appears to be present when I open the file contents)
(D) Try to open, but can't initialize Python, whatever that means
What do?
