Does anyone know what has changed with Mac OS X and the ability to play Battlefield Vietnam in a wineskin?

I desperately miss battlefield Vietnam because it is in my opinion the best game I've ever played in which you can fly helicopters. I used to be able to play it on my Mac with the help of a wineskin from PaultheTall.com. I set that up back in 2012 with OS x 10.7 and I stuck with 10.7 for a very long time until I was left with little choice but to update to 10.10.1 in late 2015. Ever since, I've found myself totally unable to get the game to work. Initially I had little recourse at all, it just stopped working with a message saying that the program had __"encountered a serious error and had to close."__ all of the game program files were in their initial structure and location as when they were last working on my previous install because everything after the OS update was restored from time machine so nothing else had changed. From memory I believe I had used a crack to enable the game to work without the CD being present because otherwise it wouldn't work with the winsekin. I recently revisited PaulTheTall's website and saw he's created a new piece of software he called the porting kit which he said would allow older wrappers on his website to become compatible with OSx Yosemite and El Capitan if you used your old wrappers in conjunction with it. Sadly it didn't work but I thought maybe I fresh game install and the porting kit could work. I reinstalled completely and got further than previously because now I got as far as a splash screen before being told I had to insert the correct game cd. I'd forgotten about the nocd patch. I downloaded a new set of patches, I wasn't sure which version of the game I had so I tried multiple patches and when they all didn't work I tried patching the game to the latest version first then using a nocd patch. The results were the same every time. I'd see the same splash screen about the CD ''text''except if ''text'', I'd replaced __all of __executable files with their patch counterparts rather than some. The nocd patch has a file for the main game executable as well as a mod.dll file and something else too if I recall. Anyway, if used any less than all 3 (I initially thought the mods things maybe could be left alone), I was told I needed the game cd, but if I did all 3, I simply encountered exactly the same error I had been ever since the OS x update with my original game install. A black screen followed by the message that a serious error had been encountered. Trouble is, I know how to use pre-prepared wineskins and understand the principle behind how they work but lack the sophistication of understanding to make my own that are tweaked for specific games and to effectively analyse what's going wrong when they don't work. I'd be sooo happy if someone figured out how to make this game work again because 12 years on and I still love it.
