ok I'm trying to install a windows game mod exe. file into a game, temple of elemental evil, directory that is has been wrapped in wine by GoG gamers. ive figured out how to use wine but this mod needs or uses a part of java runtime for windows. I have installed the mod with no problem into the wrapper and i can boot from the normal exe. in the wrapper but i cannot boot from the new mod exe. i installed, without getting the warning. 'this modification requires a java environment to run.' have read that java is unstable in wine currently but also in the official game forums people have managed to install windows java enough so that the mod is stable. they are a bit quick on the details and I've been researching for a few days and this seems like the best option for advice when installing windows runtime 32 bit (64bit isn't supported i imagine) whatever i click on and try install nothing happens it gives back a blank config and shows a bunch of my hardware drivers on the other screen. thats ok. I'm pretty sure that means it should be working but isn't. don't ask me how i know i just got a funny feeling. as far as i can make out from cross platform guides on installing java in wine i am missing some file systems for it to install to I've tried adding wineskin.app drive_c users appdata LocalLow Sun I've added those to the wrapper manually but it didn't help. that or i need to use a MY actual user name but this is complicated does anyone know how to actually install JSE into a wine wrapper on an os x system? i don't really need full all out windows java emulation in os x, the exe. mod program just needs to think its there enough how are we doing this these days?
