Fullscreen vs windowed (HUGE performance gain)

Dear all, first of all, Wineskin is amazing! I would like to ask why there is such a big performance hit when SOME games are run in fullscreen? To explain, the game I'm talking about is Far Cry. My resolution is 1680x1050. In fullscreen I get around 20 FPS. But if I do the keyboard combo to run the game in a window mode (with the same resolution), suddently the FPS counter jumps to 60. I have a theory. When in windowed mode, the OS uses this thing called beamsync, so every element on the screen is drawn in 60 fps. But when the game runs in fullscreen mode, the beamsync is disabled or something and the fps drop is enormous. Many other people had a request to be able to switch to lion-based fullscreen mode. That would be amazing, because the beamsync would draw the window with 60fps anyway. So a slow game would appear much smoother. The other option icould be to draw the fullscreen window on top of all elements (menubar, dock). My temporal workaround is to set screen options to windowed, run the game at native resolution and then to use the key combo to switch to windowed mode back and to hide the dock. Basically what's left is the game and the menubar. I can't get rid of the menubar. :( But the game runs crazy fast. What do you say?
