Hi there, I'm the same one who posted earlier about timing resolution. Anyway I've already [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/130375104/bounce-metronome-tune-smithy-lissajous-3d-on-intel#|launched my kickstarter], but just want to check, how is WineSkin with midi?
I wanted to find a rough idea how this works, and searched the forums but there doesn't seem to be much about it.
On Linux, then I used Catia, Jack and QSynth. Presumably I can install qsynth and route midi within Wine to other programs installed inside of the skin. Do say if there are any issues there.
What I was wondering though is, what's the situation when it comes to routing midi from the WineSkin to other programs outside of the skin?
Musicians are likely to have many programs on their Mac which create sounds, VSTi and so forth, and depending on what they want to do and which of my programs they are using - might well want to route midi notes from the WineSkin to other software on their Mac.
So - can my program see the OSX midi devices when running in a WineSkin?
I think this is a question about CoreMidi and CoreAudio, does CoreMidi for instance show up as a midi out devices in my app when it's playing. Or I have to route to it somehow using something else inside of the skin?
I don't need full techy details at this stage (though it's okay if you want to share them), just a rough idea of what it might be able to do would help, for the FAQ for my kickstarter and for anyone who asks about it.
Thanks!
Robert
